Description: In June 1631, Barbary and Turkish pirates stormed ashore near Baltimore, a small village on the southern tip of County Cork, Ireland. Led by notorious pirate captain Morat Rais, the brigands captured almost all the villagers and dragged them away to be sold in the slave markets of North Africa. Only two ever saw Ireland again.
