The Oakes mystery was made more interesting by the involvement of the Duke of Windsor, who was Governor of the Bahamas at the time. According to the author, the Duke was implicated in a cover-up after the slaying and conspired (unsuccessfully) to hang an innocent man. Compelling stuff for any lover of true murder mysteries. A really good read by a veteran journalist who has studied the case for four decades.
