Thomas Aquinas
By Eugene Teselle
Subjects:
Description: Some persons, like Thomas Aquinas, are loyal to both faith and reason. They recognize the many difficulties that exist in this approach, but they are confident that the two ways eventually converge. Engineers who dig a tunnel from both sides of a mountain expect to meet somewhere in the middle. Minor adjustments and corrections may be necessary as faith and reason interact; but both are reliable, and they cannot be in basic conflict. Can we be as confident as Aquinas? Are we able to affirm both faith and reason as we live out our own lives? We all have to answer that important question for ourselves, but we can learn much from Thomas's example. - p. 64.
