Description: Over the years, Lewis Koch has explored themes of personal and political mythology with his photography and installations. Here, the artist translates three assemblages from his Totem series (1986-95) into book form-- *Book One/ Double Caution Totem*; *Book Two/ Surplus Koan Totem*; and *Book Three/ Slender Thread Totem*. Addressing issues such as the human urge to subjugate nature (Book 1), rampant militarism and overpopulation (2), and the tenuousness of the current social fabric (3), these latter-day totems are both an invocation and an invective.
