Description: Eumenides is the third play in Aeschylus's Oresteia trilogy, consisting of Agamemnon, Orestes, and the Eumenides. The play deals with the resolution of Orestes's guilt in the murder of his mother, Clytemnestra, whom he was compelled to kill in order to avenge the murder of his father, Agamemnon. Orestes is pursued by the Erinyes until his guilt can be expiated.
