Estimates range as high as 800 fatalities in this bloody six week war. Uprising tells the story of the conflict through the eyes of a fictional character, Nathan Thomas, who is sent by Jefferson Davis to Minnesota to ferment the war. The book is strong on the history even though it has a fictional thread running through it.
