Subjects: Radio plays, Holidays, Drama, History
Description: This volume contains a collection of radio scripts suitable for historical occasions and patriotic holidays in both junior and senior high schools. The scripts were compiled while teaching a radio broadcasting class at Northern High School in Flint, Michigan. In this course the students wrote and dramatized their own plays. After individual play ideas of students were developed into rough drafts, these were criticized by the class, suggestions offered, and the plays revised and corrected. Although these scripts were written to be used for actual broadcasts, they may be used as practice material for classes and clubs, or they may be used as actual stage presentations before school assemblies as audiences always enjoy seeing how radio shows are produced. There is a great need for short, easy programs for special occasions. These plays may be a help to many English and speech teachers who are constantly called upon to prepare such patriotic programs throughout the school year. In schools where a regular radio class exists, the class members may wish to use these scripts only as suggestions or models from which they may write their own original programs to specifically meet the requirements of their own group. - Introduction.
