Subjects: Architecture, Architecture, Victorian, Victorian Architecture, Buildings, structures, Architecture, great britain, History, Architecture, victorian
Description: A fine little introduction to London during Victoria's reign. The chapters, each of which runs about 15-20 pages, gives an overview of the metropolis during each of the decades from 1840 to 1900, with a general look at London both before and after that era. A number of period photographs accompany the text, but text decidedly predominates. This is not a detailed social history, of course, but for a quick introduction to the major trends and aspects of the British capital, it is an excellent little guide.
