Description: Gail Carrington and Bob Bartley fear that their new friend Joan Bernell will be bored when she comes to stay at Crystal Beach. But Joan is interested everything -- particularly an old locket that will be a prize in an upcoming swimming competition. Joan finds a secret compartment in the locket which contains a strange silver ring. She learns that the ring is half of a twin ring, two rings that were once joined together, which were probably separated and exchanged by an engaged couple and which would have been rejoined and worn by the bride after the wedding. Joan and her friends wonder how the ring became lost from its twin. Then they translate the inscription on the ring and read a diary which was found with the ring, and discover that the fiancee was believed to have been drowned in a shipwreck. Can the friends discover what really happened to the woman, and find her long-lost fiance?
