The Girl Scouts at Penguin Pass

By Mildred Augustine Wirt Benson

Subjects:

Description: As a newly-inducted member of the Intermediate Scout Troop of Fairfield, Judy Grant travels to Maple Leaf Lodge with the other Girl Scouts for a fun week of skiing at Penguin Pass. From the very beginning, however, the trip seems to be jinxed. The Scouts face bad weather, icy roads, and Caleb Shively, the unfriendly lodge caretaker who tells the Scouts to leave at once. The Scouts have permission from the owner, and decide to stay. When Judy sees Shively going out into the cold night on his own, she becomes suspicious. Objects go missing from the lodge, and Judy wonders if Shively is a thief. The girls know that the Boy Scouts like Mr. Shively, and they are confused about why he is unfriendly to them. The answer lies at Penguin Pass.
