Description: Monroe presents a collection of paintings by Al Black, an artist who was part of the Highwaymen, a group of self-trained African American painters who sold works out of the trunks of their cars during the 1960s and 70s. In the introduction, Monroe tells the unique story of how Black went to prison for fraud and drug possession but continued to paint landscapes and murals there.
