Description: This is the story of Concepcion Arguello, the daughter of Don Jose Arguello (the commander of the San Francisco Presidio in 1806) and the "romantic" relationship she developed with the Russian Count Nikolai Rezanov. Their relationship helped to open up a trading partnership with the Presidio. However, when the count made his way back to Russian (supposedly to ask permission to marry the Catholic Arguello) he died in route. Concepcion never married, becoming a nun and living out her days doing good works.
