Description: An historical and artifactual case study of embossed bottles associated with 19th and 20th century businesses of the city of Plattsburgh in upstate New York. Includes detailed documentation and description of bottles made for 40 businesses from the late 1860s to the early 1960s. Scale drawings of more than 180 embossed bottles associated with bottlers of beer, whiskey, soft drinks, drugstsore pharmaceuticals, and dairy products, and summary information on 34 Plattsburgh bottling companies (1863-1963), 48 drugstores (1850-1930), and 45 dairies and creameries (1915-1992). Appendix contains information on 15 glass companies around the country that are known to have made such bottles for Plattsburgh businesses.
