Eight lines and under
By Cole, William
Subjects: English poetry, American poetry, SHort American poetry
Description: A collection of American poems all 8 lines or less. Poems ranging from funny and superficial to deep and meaningful. I found William Cole's book as I was running from the high school librarian because me and my friends were laughing too loudly. Over she came to us after having warned us. We scattered. I ran to the stacks close by intent on gabbing a book and putting my nose in it to avoid getting into more trouble. As I read I was amazed at the fascinating collection of short poems. They are funny, poignant, irreverent, sexy and wonderful! For more than a year we returned to that book truly getting into to more trouble from more laughing. Although the other boys enjoyed the poems for me they touched a chord which has never stopped ringing. To this day 48 years later I still have 5 of them committed to memory.
