Description: " 'Making the Rounds' is the second book my father and I have written together. Our first collaboration, 'A Hundred Camels: A Mission doctor's Sojourn and Murder Trial in Somalia,' fulfilled a promise I penned in my eighth-grade journal--that one day I would write a book about my father's murder trial, a frightening event and no less absurd to me than the court scene from 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.'. . . A year after 'A Hundred Camels' was published, Dad and I started another book--the one you are holding. 'Making the rounds: Memoirs of a Small-Town Doctor' recounts my father's life work as a family doctor practicing medicine in the last half of the twentieth-century. But it is also our love letter to a particular place and its people--this time the rural town of Markle, Indiana. . . .
