Lester and the sea monster

Lester and the sea monster

By Jan Slepian

Subjects: Fairy tales, Juvenile fiction, Sea monsters

Description: This book is an aide to helping children who struggle with sound/letter relationships. In particular this book concentrates on the sound of /l/. The story is based on a colony of mermaids, who live a happy life except for the occasional appearance of the "sea monster." The sea people can't protect the ships from the monster because their chant , "la, lee lo locks, look out for the rocks" doesn't come out right. This story is how Lester the merboy saves the day when he brings the /l/ sound to the mer people.
