Description: When the heads of two women are found in a cabin, adjacent to the site of a mass-grave of long-missing bodies outside Portland, Oregon, all signs point towards a surgeon with a history of violence and drug abuse. As the junior member of her father's law firm, young and ambitious lawyer Amanda Jaffe becomes closely involved with the case and its participants: the surgeon's beautiful wife; an overzealous detective; a brutal mobster, and a vituperative hospital administrator. When evidence amassed against the surgeon is overturned due to procedural misconduct, the surgeon disappears, seemingly confirming suspicions about his guilt. But then a second series of murders is discovered, revealing a pattern identical to the first. Is the surgeon back, carrying out his crimes incognito? Or is there a copy-cat killer? Amanda Jaffe's quest for the truth places her squarely in the middle of a story of murder and revenge of epic preportions, in a thriller whose pace and unexpected twists and turns will leave readers gasping for breath, and guessing till the very end.
