Description: The purpose of this guide about the Multiple Indicator Method (MIM) is to provide an efficient and effective approach to monitoring streams and riparian vegetation. This protocol is designed to meet the recommendations in the University of Idaho Stubble height study report to integrate annual grazing use and long-term trend indicators. The monitoring procedures described in this document can be used to evaluate current livestock grazing management practices, i.e., timing, frequency, and duration of grazing, and to determine whether the vegetation, stream channels, and streambanks are responding to livestock grazing management as indicated.
