Changes in food and farming

Changes in food and farming

By Steve Parker

Subjects: Juvenile literature, Food supply, Food and drink, Agriculture, Environmental protection, Child and youth non-fiction

Description: "Farms are becoming bigger and bigger as more food is needed for the growing population. When land is cleared for farming, habitats are destroyed and soil can become infertile. Then the food has to be stored and transported, which costs money and causes pollution. It's not all doom and gloom! We just need to understand what's happening. If everyone wasted less food, then there would be more to go round and fewer farms would be needed. Plus, if food were bought locally, then there would be fewer food miles."--Back cover.
