Description: As a young woman, Mrs. Tillson moved with her husband from Massachusetts to southern Illinois in 1822. In the 1870s she wrote this private memoir about the journey to Illinois and her first few years on the frontier for the benefit of her youngest daughter. The book is notable for its literate, detailed account. The editor, Milo Quaife from the State Historical Society of Wisconsin, added extensive notes.
