A modest proposal
By Jonathan Swift
Subjects: Sarah Harding, Examinations, eating babies, open_syllabus_project, satire, Study guides, Swift, eighteenth century
Description: Swift's black satire in which the Proposer, after a protracted prologue foreshadowing a new measure for the nation to adopt with respect to its youngest children, finally announces it - at one year old they would make an excellent stew, ragout, or fricassee, and child-bearing mothers could engage in robust competition to see who could bring the fattest baby to market.
