This motorcycle touring adventure was pre-GPS (the author used paper maps), pre-cellphone (the author put coins in phone booths), pre-Internet (the author used the public library), pre-Lonely Planet (the author used the South American Handbook and the People’s Guide to Mexico), pre-Facebook (the author sent postcards), pre-ATM (the author used traveler’s cheques), and pre-digicam (the author used Ektachrome 200 in a Minox camera).
