Description: The new Job in California sounded nice and peaceful to Mace Banyon, ex-deputy U.S. Marshal. He had been hired to supervise and collect payments from tenant farmers. But the sharecroppers -- honest, hard-working Chinese -- were resented by their unfriendly neighbors. So from the start Mace found himself caught between hostile farmers and townsmen, headed by a vicious, land-grabbing banker, and the almost defenseless Cantonese workers. When a drought threatens crop failures the local tensions increase and soon Mace Banyon's peacful job flares into a shooting war!
