Description: Kirk, a creative misfit who is in trouble at high school because he is bored with his classes, learns to deal with his alcoholic mother, new friends, and life with the help of a blind young woman who hires him to read to her. Kirk doesn't have many friends, and he spends his time in school writing song lyrics instead of paying attention. No one really notices him-until he gets kicked out of English class. Big Glenn thinks Kirk's lyrics are perfect for his songs, and becomes Kirk's first real friend in years. And there's a girl who notices him, too, and might even like him. He finds a job reading to a cool blind woman, Callie. But then one day Kirk comes home to a shocking surprise from his mom. Can Kirk keep it all together-the job, problems at home, a new girlfriend, and school?
