Peter Parley's Tales of Greece and Rome
By Samuel G. Goodrich
Subjects:
Description: This book is typical of childrens books of the period wherein stories of heroism, virtue and evil are presented to the young reader as examples of how one should/should not conduct oneself in life. The historical and mythical/legendary settings are very much dated as far as modern knowledge of the subjects are concerned and the language used would now be considered "quaint". Historical detail is brief, as one might expect in a childrens publication, and has been superceded by more recent findings and research.
