Description: **''A colt befriends a girl and along with the colt's mother, the girl encourages the crooked colt to become a fast runner.''** **Tender tale of how a wobbly young colt finds assurance in the love of his mother and a little girl** until, one day, his playmates accept him, too. The little colt was very small, and his little legs were so wobbly and weak that every time he tried to stand up, he would fall. He saw other colts on the farm running and playing and was very sad. **No one paid any attention to him except his mama and a little girl ...** MANY available positive reviews of this story .... I'll begin with three: **Sandie: It was amazing (5 of 5 stars)** This was one of my very favorite stories by this author! I spent many hours in the library as a child and C.W. Anderson was a favorite author! I still love his delightful horse stories to this day and often check out the ones the library here has to read with my daughter. The Crooked Colt was especially dear, all about a little colt who did not fit in with the others and couldn't run and play as the others did. Its a book about courage and strength on a child's level. Its really quite brilliant. I recommend this not just for horse loving kids but all kids. **Manna_Sue said it was amazing (5 of 5 stars):** Weekly Reader book from grade school. It was one of my favorites! I loved the story of the little colt who proved everybody wrong and the little girl who loved him. Glad to share this with my girls now that we found it in the treasures of my hope chest. **Eva Kelly really liked it (4 of 5 stars):** Boy, is THIS one ever a good one! It was sad but I knew the colt would be OK in the end. And he was! The colt just wanted friends and that's what he got. He just had to get strong. I don't know what was wrong with the kids who made fun of him. What's their problem? He NEEDED them!
