WORLD DEMOCRATIC FEDERALISM: PEACE AND JUSTICE INDIVISIBLE

By MYRON J. FRANKMAN

Subjects: International economic relations, International organization, Globalization, Economic aspects

Description: It has become almost commonplace to observe that economic globalization requires some form of democratic political response to limit the excesses of concentrated economic power. This work provides an interrelated set of initiatives whose components are consistent with the logic of both the process of globalization and the emerging priorities of our time: sustainability, democratization, inclusion, equal opportunity, diversity, and peace. Frankman's aim is to provide a clear, credible complement to the current endeavors to respond to 'globalization from above'. He rejects state-centric solutions and brings together the case for global public finance, a single world currency, and a guaranteed basic income for all the Earth's inhabitants. He insists that these initiatives should be within a context of democratic federalism extending from the local to the global and requiring renewed citizen engagement.
