Antonimija u hrvatskome jeziku
By Ljiljana Šarić
Subjects: Croatian language, Synonyms and antonyms
Description: This book comprises a complete semantic description of antonymy in Croatian as a lexical phenomenon, the identification and description of basic types of antonymy in Croatian, and an analysis of specific contexts in which antonymic associations are realized. Its multidisciplinary approach draws on linguistics, philosophy, and logics. The first part of the analysis deals with opposition in the history of philosophy and logical types of opposition conditioning prototypical linguistic antonymy. The second part examines antonymy within lexical semantics, particularly the role of antonymy in the systemic character of linguistic organization. One part of the analysis is devoted to the classification of antonymic oppositions. One section of the book discusses contextual antonyms, antonymy in the structure and meaning of collocations and phrases, and the approach to antonymy in monolingual and special dictionaries of synonyms and antonyms. A glossary of antonyms based on different sources is appended.
