Description: This music won the 1967 Prince Pierre of Monaco Musical Composition Award. When performed by the Denver Symphony Orchestra in April 1968, the Rocky Mountain News reviewer said " Perhaps the most exciting new work performed was Sidny Hodkinson's Caricatures, Five Paintings for Symphony Orchestra. Here the composer used a much more extensive spectrum of sound. Wide contrasts in types of gestures, expressive modes, dynamics, textures, sonorities, densities and timbres occurred within closely juxtaposed situations. Only an extremely far-ranging creative imagination could have organized these events so effectively."
