Description: Its a research study on social science textbooks specifically civcs textbooks that were available in India till 2000. It asks questions like How do children perceive the structure of the government or the Sarkar? Is the information presented in civics textbooks - and the way it is presented - adequate for children to comprehend the nature and functions of these structures? Are these textbooks the only source of children's knowledge of these structures, or do they gather this knowledge also from their observations of the political life around them? These ares some of the questions author pursues in this book. It provides alternative framework to study themes discussed in textbooks.
